It’s no fun to dress the same as everyone else, right? Standing out from the crowd is important, as it proves that you’re a shepherd, not a sheep. When it comes to watches, it’s too easy to go for brands with the big names and recognizable logos. We’re talking well-known companies like Rolex, Tag Heuer, Omega, Cartier, and so on. These are all respectable brands which make great watches, but what makes you different if you wear the same watch as everyone else? You’ve got to think differently with watches.
We’ll list a few watch brands that manufacture beautiful timepieces but have a name that is a bit more underground.
MVMT
Why is it so hard to find an affordable watch with quality materials and a classy design? Well, MVMT (pronounced Movement) apparently thought the same thing, as since 2013, the brand has been creating watches that are simple yet stylish, don’t break the bank, and use strong, long-lasting materials. If you hate overly complex watches that are more about displaying gold and diamonds rather than actually telling the time, then MVMT watches will be right up your alley. The straps come in many different materials, and even though each watch design immediately screams MVMT, these are diverse enough that people can find a style to suit them.
Hamilton
If you’re after a watch that’s completely left of center and that no one else will likely have, then it has to be a Hamilton. From V-shaped models to intricate skeleton watches (where you can see the inner workings of the watch), Hamilton is a Swiss-based manufacturer (like so many others) but doesn’t rely on its name or heritage to sell – it simply creates gorgeous watches that deserve to be seen and talked about. Depending on the model, the prices can reach into the thousands in some cases, but pick one up a bit cheaper at Chrono24 if you like the sound of these.
Skagen
Swatch better look out, as Skagen is right on its heels of becoming the de facto company which aims to produce fun, colorful, minimalistic, and cheap watches. With clean designs and brushed metals, Skagen is right up there with the must-have watches of 2019. While some watches are bold and bright, others are classy and cool, meaning that everyone from a businessperson to an artist could find a Skagen to suit their lifestyle. Smartwatches are also available, but thankfully don’t look as futuristic as say, an Apple Watch or Fitbit.
In the end, choosing the right watch is all about finding a design that suits you. A popular brand name isn’t important, so long as the watch you wear makes you feel like an individual and not simply part of a scene.
