My buddy Marc Leder has been running his travel blog for around 3 years now and he dedicates this blog to helping people to save money on their travel plans. Marc has helped his subscribers to save massive deals thanks to his tips and hacks for things like hotel deals, destinations and most importantly, flights. Reducing the cost of your flight can have a huge impact on how much money you spend on your vacation and Marc has shared with me a number of tips which I wanted to pass on to you, why not give them a try the next time that you are flying, and see how much you can save!
Where to Look
There are many websites which claim to be able to offer you the lowest fares but there is really on one which will deliver 100% of the time, and that is Skyscanner. This website is what they call a flight aggregator and it searches across all corners of the internet in order to bring you the very best fares and rates. What I love about this website is that it even searches 3rd party companies and brings you their best deals too. There is no other site on the internet which finds fares as cheap as Skyscanner does.
Consider a Connection
Many don’t like the idea of a connecting flight en route to your destination and whilst it can be a slight pain, it could save you a significant amount of money. For example I regularly fly between Mexico City and London, which usually has an average cost of $850 for the direct flight. If however I connect in New York or Cancun, I can get that price down to somewhere closer to the $500 mark. This is a huge saving and the best part is that the average travel time for a direct flight is 10 hours, and the average travel time when I connect is around about 14 hours. That means that for 4 extra hours of my life spent traveling, I can save myself $350!! for me that is just a no brainer.
Get In Quick
Something which Marc is always asked on his blog is when the best time to buy flights is, and whether or not it is better to wait until the last minute. This is something which used to happen when airlines wanted to make sure that their flights were full up, and so they would offer some discount tickets on the final days before take off. This is something which no longer happens and you soul remember that flights are not like hotels, and last minute deals very rarely happen. The best time for you to buy that flight ticket is the day that the tickets are released. If you are worried about missing this date then you can sign up to be on the email list for an airline, and they will notify you when the price comes out.
Simple tricks which can save you some big money on your flights.
