Your best friend has finally gotten down on one knee and proposed. Now it’s time for you to plan the wedding. Before you decide on anything, you need to sit down and think about your venue.
You could rent out a hotel or townhouse in your area but wouldn’t it be cooler to get married at say, a festival? It’s unique and all the entertainment is there so that’s something you can check off your to-do list.
Entertainment isn’t the only thing that non-traditional wedding venues can offer you. Check out this guide for a list of unique wedding location ideas that will leave a lasting impression on your guests.
1. Festival
If you and your fiancé are big music buffs, there’s nothing quite like getting married at a music festival. It’s unique and the high energy makes for a pretty fun ceremony.
All the entertainment is already there so you don’t have to worry about paying extra to hire a band to play at your wedding. Like with booking any venue, it’s important that you call ahead. The festival organizers will be happy to work with you and make your day special but they need notice.
As far as pricing goes, it can vary depending on the festival and how much you want to put into it. It shouldn’t be as expensive as most traditional wedding venues though.
2. Zoo
Saying “I do” and having your wedding pictures photobombed by big jungle cats will certainly leave a lasting impression in your guest’s minds. Since there are so many zoo exhibits, you will have your pick when it comes to where to hold the ceremony.
You won’t have to provide your guests with any entertainment. Being able to walk around the zoo and take pictures of the animals will be fun enough.
The best part of zoo weddings is the cost. You’ll spend maybe 4 grand and that’s if you have a bunch of guests. That sounds like a lot until you realize most traditional weddings will run you over 30,000.
3. Campsite
If you’re really strapped for cash, may we offer you a campsite? They make for creative wedding venues and you shouldn’t end up spending more than 90 bucks to book.
Being out in nature with the trees as your backdrop can make for some gorgeous wedding pictures. As far as entertainment and food go, make it a regular weekend in the woods. Rent out cabins or pitch tents.
Cook smores over a campfire. You don’t need a huge spread of food when you can roast hotdogs on sticks. That doesn’t mean that you can’t hire a vendor to provide the food if you want but you should try to incorporate camping classics at some point during the weekend.
As a side note, make sure that your guests know what they’re getting into. All of them might not be as keen to rough it as you and your fiancé.
4. Surprise Wedding
This is less of a wedding venue and more of a fun idea. Host your wedding in a place where you could also host a birthday party or some other celebration. Don’t tell your guests that they’ll be attending a wedding.
It will make for a fun, inexpensive ceremony that your guests can laugh about later. As far as where to host it, you’ve got options. You can do it in a bowling alley or rent out a restaurant and get married before the main course.
5. Wedding Boat Rental
Want to have a destination wedding but can’t afford to travel? Rent out a boat. Even if you’re still in your hometown, having a wedding on the water will cast the illusion that you’re out at some exotic location.
You can have both your reception and ceremony in one place so you don’t have to worry about booking a second location. This makes having a yacht wedding cheaper than some of the other creative wedding venues on this list. Granted, the longer you rent the boat, the more the price goes up.
Boats make for an intimate wedding so, don’t book if you’re planning to have a bunch of guests. Not all of them will fit. You will need to book well in advance.
There are plenty of wedding venues that are available on land. The same can’t be said for yachts.
Companies only have so many that they can rent out. That means it’s first come first serve!
6. Aquarium
Speaking of the high seas, if you can’t afford to have a wedding on a boat or at the beach, the aquarium is the next best thing. You shouldn’t spend more than a few thousand dollars to book the day and it makes for some pretty unique pictures.
Like with zoo and festival weddings, the entertainment is right there. Your guests will love interacting and looking at the colorful fish swimming around.
7. Library
Are you and your fiancé book lovers? What if we told you that you can open up this new chapter of your lives by getting married in your public library?
You can hold the ceremony outside or say “I do” while surrounded by your favorite pieces of literature. Whatever you do, it’s sure to make one of the most gorgeous non-traditional venues.
Non-Traditional Wedding Venues That Will Leave Your Guests Breathless
When it comes to venues, you shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg to hold your ceremony somewhere magical. That’s why non-traditional wedding venues are getting so popular. They’re unique, in some cases you don’t have to provide entertainment or food yourself, and they make for some unforgettable pictures.
