Last month I was sitting at the computer doing some work when it began, the sniffle, you know that sniffle which is going to end up in a biblical flu? That’s the one that I could feel coming on, and then my skin started to feel sensitive. I ran quickly to the Dearborn Heights pharmacy by my house in need of some serious advice. I told the woman behind the counter what was going on and asked her for any advice which she could offer me that would help stave off this monster of a cold which was just about to take me off my feet. She gave me the advice I needed and it worked, so well in fact that I want t o pass these secrets on to you. If you feel a cold coming, here is what do.
Hit The Medication
Some people wait until the cold has fully kicked in before taking medication, most times because there is different medication for a head cold/chesty cough etc. so people wait to see what they have first. This however is wrong and what you should be doing is taking an all-in-one medication the moment that you feel that sucker creeping up on you. The sooner that you get the medication into your body the sooner that you immune system will get a much needed boost, which could help the cold to go away without any symptoms.
The Old Wives Drink
Some old wives’ tales really work and one which I used to great success was the Hot Toddy, a drink which was sent by the gods to help those with cold, and I now know, those who are just about to have a cold. The hot toddy is a drink made with scotch whisky, honey, hot water, ginger and lime, and it is a miracle cure. The alcohol is to help you sleep, the hot water is to get your body sweating out the virus and the ginger, lime and honey all have excellent immune system boosting qualities. This is a drink which could very well stop that nasty cold even hitting your doorstep, so give it a go.
Vitamin Up
We all know that vitamin C is vital when it comes to giving your immune system a much needed boost but what many don’t know is that this can happen pretty instantly. If you do feel a cold coming on then you need to get to the store and start packing your cart full of produce which is high in vitamin C. Fill up on satsumas and oranges, broccoli and spinach and throw some sweet potato in there for good measure. Your mission is then to consume as much of that vitamin C as you possibly can in the hope that it gives a much need injection to your immune system and fights off that cold virus before it has the chance to manifest.
