February 4, 2019

Is visiting the Caribbean on your bucket list? It should be!

The tropical islands of the Caribbean are full of breathtaking sites. From pristine pink beaches and turquoise waters to colonial architecture and stunning birdlife. The Caribbean is the ultimate wanderlust destination.

But there are more than 7,000 islands in the Caribbean. Where exactly are the most beautiful Caribbean islands? We’ve done all the research so you don’t have too.

So, are you ready? Grab your pen and paper and start taking notes from this stunning Caribbean islands list.

The Most Beautiful Caribbean Islands

The Caribbean islands are a whole other level of beauty. It’s almost impossible to choose which is the prettiest Caribbean island. Each island nation and territory is special in its own right.

Here are seven of the best places to visit in the Caribbean that are well known for their breathtaking beauty. Warning — these descriptions may cause you to grab your passport and jump on a plane right now!

1. Turks and Caicos

One of the best places to visit in the Caribbean is the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Caicos islands are larger than the Turks islands, but they all make up the stunning TCI destination. If you’re looking for a picture perfect location, you’ve found it.

The luxury islands are well known for the vibrant aqua hues in the ocean and colorful coral reefs. Grace Bay is one of the most famous beaches in the Caribbean. There are also hundreds of more bays to visit throughout your sunfilled vacation.

As well as the beaches, the towns are full of charming colonial architecture.

2. Curaçao

One of the top Caribbean islands to visit is Curaçao. It was formally Dutch territory, which has left its mark on the fascinating architecture. The bright painted colonial buildings reflect a rainbow of colors on the surrounding rugged landscape.

As you leave the city, the scenery becomes more desert-like with spiny aloe vera plants and palm trees dotting the rocky cliff tops. One of the biggest draws is the warm temperature which remains the same all year round.

The powdery white beaches are remarkable with plenty of opportunities for diving and snorkeling. Have fun in the sun, but don’t forget to kick back, relax, and have a body massage with a perfect view.

3. Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico made it to the prettiest Caribbean islands list, although it’s somewhat underrated. You’ll feel blown away by the vibrant and colorful culture and the historical sites. It’s hard to see why it’s not talked about more.

San Juan is one of the most gorgeous coastal historical towns you will ever set foot in. On top of the Spanish colonial sites, there are tropical rainforests and nature reserves. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re into bird watching.

The beaches are equally lovely. The island is well known for its stunning snorkeling spots.

Puerto Rico also features a natural phenomenon that you must add to your bucket list. In Vieques, tiny micro-organisms illuminate the Bioluminescent Bay at night. Night swimming in the glowing ocean will make you feel you’re on another planet.

4. Antigua

What happens when you mix British history with tropical beauty? Candy-colored colonial architecture, a lively cultural scene, and white sandy beaches. That’s Antigua!

One of the must-see spots in Antigua is the historical English Harbor. It’s a popular yachting and boating destination.

As well as picturesque tourist sites there is an energetic cultural scene and tasty food to go with it. The striking views along the coastline are unforgettable.

5. St. Lucia

One of the top Caribbean islands for tourists is the island St. Lucia. It’s bigger than many of the other cluster islands, and it’s got a lot to offer.

St. Lucia offers a twofold vacay — outdoorsy activities and tons of opportunities to veg out on an isolated beach. The island has some of the best views in the Caribbean, although you might have to sweat a bit to see them. But they do say “the best views come after the hardest climb”!

There are several hiking trails full of natural beauty spots. For an adrenalin rush, you can try rock climbing or zip lining through a rainforest. You can also absorb yourself into their lively culture, history, and music.

6. Barbados

Barbados is the island for all. Picturesque white powdery beaches are around every corner, there are even pink beaches! Many boast shallow pools perfect for snorkeling, but also big waves for the surfers out there.

From monkies providing natural entertainment to turtles nesting on the beach. Exotic wildlife abounds.

Colorful sunsets provide the perfect backdrop for an evening meal or fruity cocktail. Not forgetting the calypso music playing in the background.

7. Aruba

The cluster islands of Aruba are not far from the coast of Venezuela. Aruba is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This means all the citizens are actually Dutch nationals.

The islands of Aruba lures tourists with its pristine white beaches and rocky landscape. The azure colored ocean is a must-see for underwater enthusiasts. From ancient shipwrecks to vivid coral reefs, it’s an underwater playground that you shouldn’t miss.

One of the most attractive elements is the wall to wall sunshine. There is hardly any rain, ever. This dry climate creates a diverse and fascinating landscape to explore.

Aruba is one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean, which is what makes it so popular. It’s hard to believe that in 1499 the Spanish colonists nicknamed the island “Useless island.”
