1. Art Therapist

Forget about the same old as a therapist, and discover becoming an art therapist. While this won’t make you rich money wise, if you enjoy helping others plus love art, this could be your next rewarding career. Art can be part of the healing process for many, and it can help your client’s stress and anxiety.

To become an art therapist you’ll first need to get a Bachelor’s and then a Master’s Degree in Psychology, plus become certified by the American Art Therapy Association. To become certified it’ll require both clinical and studio hours.

Once you become an art therapist you could open up your own private practice with individual or group settings. Or you could work for a mental health or rehabilitation center, nursing home, or community outreach center.

The annual salary for an art therapist is $44,231

2. Headhunter

Think of a headhunter as a professional recruiter, you’ll be hired by organizations to recruit higher-level employees and executives. Many organizations don’t want to waste time and money trying to find the right employee, so they’ll hire headhunters to help out in this process.

Since your position will be filling open roles, you’ll do well at this job if you have a good knowledge of the job market and a strong professional network. Being able to communicate well and make friendships easily is important for this role. There’s no educational requirement for this position, but a human resources background will help you score roles.

The annual salary for a headhunter is around $75,000.

3. College English Professor

Do you love the classics and enjoy reading and writing? You could share your passion for writing and great works with college students. If you want to go this route, most colleges require a Master’s Degree.

The salary range for a college English professor is $73,350-$146,008.

4. Forensic Accounting

If working with numbers and enjoying solving puzzles sounds like fun, then Forensic Accounting might be for you. You don’t have to worry about getting messy, you’ll be in the back end solving crimes by looking at documents and money involved in crimes.

For this position, you’ll need a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business.

The average salary for a forensic accountant is $75,634.

5. Food Scientist

If you’re looking at unusual careers, love food, and want to help in the creation of food, then look into becoming a food scientist. When you go to the grocery store and see the different products, there’s a food scientist who decides what ingredients go into making a product.

As a food scientist, you’ll develop new products, improve food safety, and come up with better food-processing methods. Your role will be creating food that is free of bacteria that could make consumers sick.

You’ll need at least a Bachelor’s Degree in food science, microbiology, or chemistry.

The estimated annual salary for a food scientist is $76,894.

6. Professional Bridesmaid

While a professional bridesmaid doesn’t make as much as some of the other careers listed, it’s a unique job that can be very rewarding. Many brides are now hiring professional bridesmaids to fill roles in weddings and the preparations until the big day.

When you’re a professional bridesmaid, you might not even walk down the aisle but instead be helping with the preparation for the wedding. Some tasks that a professional bridesmaid does:

  • Shopping for dresses
  • Managing the gift registry
  • Updating guest lists
  • Handling possible mishaps during the wedding
  • Working with the photographer, Dj, etc.
  • Helping the bride get food and also use the restroom

If you’re hired as a professional bridesmaid you’ll be taking care of all the intricate details of the wedding while the brides and other bridesmaids can relax and not have to worry about the planning phase.

You could start your own business as a professional bridesmaid with event planner training, or work for a company.

As a professional bridesmaid, expect to earn around $41,535.

7. Hippotherapist

Yes, you read that right, a hippotherapist. You might be wondering what a hippotherapist is and you’ll be happy to know it’s all about working with animals and people. Hippotherapy is when children or adults with a disability ride horses as a form of therapy.

In this role, you’ll work with medical professionals to help patients achieve their goals.

Some goals could be:

  • Building confidence and motivation
  • Providing independence
  • A sense of achievement
  • Developing balance and mobility
  • Building muscle tone and strength

You could teach group or private lessons, and create lesson plans to support your riders’ goals. You’ll also care for the horses and barn as well. If you’re not sure this is for you try out volunteering to see if it’s the right fit.

If you feel this role is for you then you’ll want to obtain certifications and attend workshops through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International.

The salary range for this career is $22,360-$67,600.
