According to one study from 2013 to 2018, about 3 million children were actively playing baseball.
If you want to play baseball but can’t find a league or anyone to play with you, there are plenty of baseball video games out there that will make sure you stay entertained.
Here are just a few of our favorites that you can play on PC or console!
1. RBI Baseball Series
Namco developed the RBI Baseball Series, and it was actually the first game that the MLBPA licensed. This meant that the game could feature real-life players. However, the MLB didn’t license it, so the developers had to change the names of the teams.
So to make up for that, the game came up with eight different teams that were in the previous year’s playoffs. They just referred to them by the names of the city that they were from to get around the licensing issue.
On top of those eight teams, they also invented two All-Star teams that had players that were good but weren’t on the other playoff teams.
In order to keep the teams balanced, they made sure that each player had their own unique specialty. For example, Vince Coleman was the fastest person you could plan in the game. If you want someone who could throw the hardest, you’d have Nolan Ryan.
Another thing that keeps it balanced is to make sure that the pitchers lose their stamina as the games go on, just like they might in real life. The bullpen is also something that can be used in the game.
After the original game, they made seven more sequels, and it was one of the first original baseball franchise games. However, the best one might be RBI Baseball 18.
This game has amazing graphics that are updated each year, and you’ll be surprised by how real the players look in each game. If something happens to a player in real life, the game will eventually update that as well, making it a really unique game that never gets outdated.
2. MVP Baseball 2005
This game is a classic when it comes to baseball video games, even though it came out almost 15 years ago in 2005. You can play it on all kinds of gaming systems, and there is a community that works on making sure all the players and their stats are updated so that people will still keep playing this game.
It also has some of the best gaming mechanics and smooth gameplay that you’ll find in any game. However, the best feature is that you can build teams and dynasties over the next 120 years. You’ll have two levels of Minor Leagues and real logos to use, and you can build your own team that is unstoppable and will win just about any game.
Unfortunately, the publisher of the game (EA Sports) no longer has their MLB license, so the game was replaced with a college version instead of the leagues. But to make up for that, they added the ability to also make your own stadium, which helped to keep the game popular among diehard baseball fans.
3. Super Mario Sluggers
If you want something that’s a little bit more of a colorful take on baseball, you should check out Super Mario Sluggers.
This game is full of all of your favorite Mario characters, and you’ll be able to pick one of them to be your team captain. After that, you’ll be able to fill up your roster with all the other available Mario characters, and it does matter who you put together.

4. Baseball Simulator Series
The Baseball Simulator Series has been around for a while, and you may even remember playing it during your childhood.
At the time of its release, the graphics were amazing, but now, they look average and outdated. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not a fun game to play anymore.
This game comes with the standard video fo being behind the home plate, which helps you see all the batter and pitcher action. But even despite the outdated graphics, it’s still a smooth game that goes on with almost zero glitches.
There are also all kinds of pitches that you can throw in this game to try and get the other players out. This game is perfect for those who want to relive some of their childhood memories or even experience some of the old school graphics.
5. Baseball Mogul
If you want something that is more strategy-based, you should check out Baseball Mogul. This doesn’t have a very entertaining style or stunning graphics, but it’s still a fun game to play.

You can make changes to any of your decisions at any point in the game, which gives you the opportunity to ensure you’re getting the most out of the game.
This game also has a scouting system so you can evaluate your potential players in detail. For example, you’ll be able to see their speed, arm strength, and other stats to help you make a decision. You can even use the real player’s names and watch them age as time goes on.
