Simple Tips and Tricks To Boost and Maintain Motivation

November 12, 2020

Many go through various ups and downs, and the added stress of the pandemic does nothing but contribute to those ups and downs.

When it’s all said and done, it still takes a toll on you in one way or another. This is especially true if you’re constantly taking in all types of media. This is why it’s best to limit the amount of television and social media you take in on a daily basis.

Many have taken this opportunity to work on some aspect of themselves. Some took up painting or writing. Others went hard on fitness. Then, you had some laid off from their jobs and decided to start the business they always wanted to pursue.

No matter which of these ideas hits home for you, one constant remains—motivation is needed.

There are two types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic. They’re both valid forms of motivation, and influence how you go about your personal process.

If you’re someone with crazy, unstoppable motivation for a few days, but it fizzles out for some reason, this can help you figure out what you can do to boost and maintain your motivation for a more extended period.

Recognizing Distractions

Before we delve into the actual mind hacks, the first thing you should think about refers to distractions. What pulls you away from your tasks and goals the most?

For the bulk of society, it’s the cell phone stuck to the palm with invisible glue. The average person picks up their phone 96 times a day, according to recent research.

Phones are so intertwined with our lives now to the point we receive cell phone notifications on our computers. We know handling your phone is somewhat inevitable in this case, but there are a few things you can do to minimize distractions.

Try turning off notifications on social media apps and turning your ringer off when you’re working. If you find it harder than you thought it would be, try powering down periodically throughout the day (if your lifestyle affords you this luxury, that is).

Whatever it is, identify it and be aware it’s hindering your progress. Now, let’s get to those mind hacks you can use!

Know What You Actually Want

You may find this notion silly, but if you think about it, a lot of us don’t really know what we want. Sometimes we’re working towards dated goals—something we did want, but things have shifted slightly.

This is why it’s important to check back in with yourself and know exactly what you want. Our wants are. The path to success is always more straightforward when you have a clear end goal in sight.

Focus on the End Goal

Now you know the end goal, so you can start breaking it down into smaller tasks and goals. When you do this, you’re able to work with a greater sense of purpose.

You know what it is you’re working towards, so you’re able to push harder when you think about what your overall goal looks like.

Don’t Overthink Everything

Overthinking is the death of many great ideas. Many don’t understand you don’t have to be able to immediately grasp every single of your goal.

It’s called having faith for a reason. You’ve got the skeleton, or the blueprint, which gives your brain a break and focuses on positive thought patterns. When you overthink, you work to provide yourself with more hurdles to clear before you’ve reached a particular point.

Overthinking is often linked to anxiety as a form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Anxiety is one of those issues that requires a personalized approach. You have to know what’s the best way for you to reduce anxious thoughts.

Chances are, you’ve heard of CBD gummies by now, especially if you experience anxiety and increased stress occasionally. CBD works exceptionally well to reduce stress, anxiety, pain, and much more thanks to the endocannabinoid system.

It’s also helpful to note hemp-based CBD contains less than 0.3% THC and is often highly-favored by those who need stress to minimize some of the mentioned above.

Visible Progress Works

When you start your day with a to-do list, you have visible progress as you cross those things off the list.

Some of the most successful people in the world work daily with lists as a beneficial productivity method. Something happens in the brain when you see those tasks dwindling down due to your hard work throughout the day.

Give it a try. You’ll see your motivation and productivity soar!

Final Thoughts

Staying productive and maintaining your motivation is a struggle for some at times. Next time you find yourself in this situation, try incorporating a few of these tips into your process.

Once you find valuable methods that work for you, you’ll be unstoppable!
