Switch off Auto-Play Videos
Sometimes videos might automatically play in your news feeds. However, you can switch off the auto-play videos in FB to save your data plan. Select Settings, Videos and Photos and Auto-play where you can select a Smart Auto-play option. With that option you can switch off the auto-play videos.
Reduce Notifications
You can also switch of notifications from FB posts. Click the down arrow at the top right of a post to open a drop-down menu. Then you can select a Unfollow option on the mobile app. The desktop option is Turn Off Notifications, which you can select to reduce notifications.
So those are some of the less obvious things you can do on Facebook. Those options and settings can certainly come in handy.
