Summer is just around the corner and there are plenty of things to do to get out and enjoy the sunshine in the valley of the sun. Phoenix is known for its gorgeous summers and there are outdoor activities throughout the city for the whole family.
Enjoy the Water
The best way to enjoy the summer weather is in the water! If you are lucky enough to live in a master planned community like Sky Crossing, then you will have a pool to swim in anytime.
But if you aren’t so lucky to have your own pool, there are options. Lake Pleasant is about a 30-minute drive from North Phoenix and a fun place to take a dip.
For some more excitement, Hurricane Harbor in Phoenix is home to water slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools. Fun for the entire family!
Remember to be safe when out in the sun by wearing plenty of sunscreen and keeping hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Hiking
Since it does get so hot in Phoenix, it is always wise to go hiking in the early mornings before the temperatures rise. If you plan smartly, early morning hikes with plenty of water are the best times to enjoy some of the most beautiful views of the valley. There are several trails all over Phoenix like the Desert Hills Trailhead, Desert Vista Trailhead, and Apache Wash Trailhead. These trails are located on the Sonoran Preserve, which is located right off of the Carefree Highway.
Educational Fun
Your family can learn new things while still having fun! The Phoenix Zoo is located in south Phoenix and hosts a number of events throughout the season. Since 1962, the non-profit zoo has called Papago Park home. With over 125 acres of land, the whole family can enjoy seeing over 1,400 animals in the outdoor park.
The Desert Botanical Garden is located right next to the Phoenix Zoo and also offers fun events for the whole family. This summer, Dog Days returns where you can bring the entire family, including your pup, to explore the garden and beautiful plants of the desert.
