New Mothers’ Guide to Post Baby Health

The joy of giving birth is both a time of excitement and anxiety for any mother. While you unite with your precious one after giving birth, it is also important to give yourself the special attention and care that your body needs. Taking care of yourself will give you the strength needed to meet the constant demands of your infant and a new routine your body is learning to adopt. In many cultures around the world, the first 40 days are observed as unique where the new mother and the baby is taken care of by family and friends. Here we will share some important tips to recover and rejuvenate yourself.

Setting Your Mind 
Once you’re at home with your baby, you will need to take the time to recover emotionally and physically. In order to do so, you will need to adopt the same sleeping schedule as your baby for the first few months. Try not to stress over the housework and piles of chores. Don’t be afraid to seek help from family and friends to help you with your housework. If that isn’t possible, then if it’s in your means, get housekeeping services at least once a week. That will keep the work load under control and you will be on a great start to taking care of your health.

Dieting the Right Way 

Along with resting well, you must also eat well to nourish your mind. Do not worry about losing weight in the first few weeks as your body recovers from the strains of delivery. Your body just went through a marathon and now it must replenish all that was lost. Also, if you start dieting right away, it may affect your milk supply which is important to retain especially if you have chosen to breastfeed. Nourishing your body the right way, will give you energy and strength when you start becoming more active later on.

* Hydrate yourself with room temperature water. Try to keep clear from cold drinks and your body will appreciate it. Hydrating yourself will also keep your milk supply rich.

* Eat warm and easily digestible food such as soups, stews, bone broths and iron-rich proteins.

* Include lots of fruits and vegetables including berries and leafy greens.

* Keep up with your daily vitamin and mineral supplements and don’t forget to keep taking your prenatal.

* Do not skip the healthy fats such as nuts and oils like olive and coconut. Incorporate these into your daily diet.

Exercises for Your Body
Once you have rejuvenated your body for at least six weeks, you can begin with a low exercise routine such as daily walks.
