Are you finally going on that dream vacation to The Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Bali, Mexico, or somewhere else? Read on to discover great tips for packing to make your vacation even dreamier.
Travelling to Exotic Places
Many travellers long for exotic destinations, especially during those cold winter months. Travelling to a warm destination during the winter is a wonderful experience, but packing can be problematic. When you’re all wrapped up in layers of wool, the last thing you can imagine is strolling around in a bikini. Unfortunately, this makes it easy to forget to pack important items.
Most items can be bought at the destination, but who wants to start their dream vacation by shopping for everything they forgot?
In order to avoid an expensive and troublesome situation when you finally arrive, be well prepared before departure. We’ve created this packing list for anyone travelling to distant and exotic destinations.
Before You Leave
Before you leave, make sure you have the required vaccines and documentations such as VISA, travel insurance, and a valid passport. If you’re going to the Maldives, a yellow fever shot is required if your departure is from a risk area. Otherwise, vaccines for Hepatitis A, tetanus and polio are recommended.
You must have a valid passport and VISA. The passport must be valid for at least six months after the scheduled date of departure. In some destinations, you’ll get a VISA upon arrival valid for a month or so.
Make copies of documentation, ID papers, and tickets before departure, and store them online so you can access them anywhere. It might be a good idea to bring a certain amount of local currency as well.
How to Pack
The following list contains some of the most important things you’ll need on a dream vacation. Feel free to be inspired to create your own list.
Medications
Include all your usual medications. In addition, pack medications for headaches, fever, and stomach issues. Bring basic first aid kits. For an exotic destination, a good mosquito spray is also necessary.
Toiletries
Pack your usual toiletries, but pack light. For example, you won’t need as much makeup in the warm and moist climate as you normally use. Remember to pack plenty of sunscreen and aftersun lotion.
Clothes
A big advantage of travelling to a warm destination is your clothes takes up little space in your suitcase. Bring a selection of swimwear, underwear, and light summer clothes. Separate beach garments from evening wear, to avoid ruining your fancy clothes with salt, water, and sweat.
Shoes
You need a pair of flip flops for the beach, a pair of comfortable sneakers, and some fancy shoes or sandals for dinner. Be aware that your tennis shoes can get extremely dirty during your vacation. You may want to clean your sneakers before starting the journey back home.
Other Essentials
If you use snus, don’t forget to bring enough for the entire trip. Snus is hard to find anywhere else than Scandinavia and America, and you might have to settle for traditional tobacco products like cigarettes.
Other essentials include electronic devices and chargers, travel speakers, sunglasses, and books. Our final tip is to pack as light as possible – once you arrive at your dream destinations, materialistic life suddenly seems less important and you won’t need as much stuff to be happy.
Safe travels!
