Best Places to Live in Metro Manila - My Zeo

If you are a Filipino living in the province, you might be thinking of moving to the country’s capital. Most likely, your preferred career opportunities might be in those areas. Most of your friends might also reside there.

The enticing nightlife and opportunities to shop in the city might be why you are considering a move. You are not alone.

Many Filipinos move to Metro Manila for similar reasons. The National Capital Region (NCR) is the most populous, with almost 14 million people. Many people choose to live in Metro Manila because it is the Philippines’ center of business, culture, education, and government. The city is home to the country’s largest airport, seaport, and financial center. It is also a significant tourist destination, with world-famous attractions like Manila Bay and Intramuros. Additionally, Metro Manila offers a wide range of housing options, from luxurious high-rise apartments to traditional Philippine villages.

If you plan to join the ranks of those who relocated to seek greener pastures, here are some of the best places to live in Metro Manila.

Makati City

Makati is the financial center of the Philippines and one of the most populated cities in Metro Manila. The city is home to the Philippine Stock Exchange and numerous multinational companies, making it one of the busiest business centers in the capital. Makati is also a major shopping destination, with high-end malls like Greenbelt and Glorietta. If you are looking for exciting nightlife, Makati is the place. The city has a wide range of bars, clubs, and restaurants.

However, it can be a costly place to live. The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Makati is PHP 25,000 (US$ 500).

Quezon City

Quezon City is the most populous city in Metro Manila, with over 3 million residents. The city is named after Manuel L. Quezon, the second president of the Philippines. Quezon City is home to many government offices, with the Philippine House of Representatives located in the Batasang Pambansa Complex. The city is also a major commercial center, with malls like Trinoma and UP Town Center.

There are several parks in Quezon City for nature lovers, including the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center. It also has a growing business district, with much multinational company’s headquarters there. Additionally, Quezon City offers a wide range of shopping and dining options.

The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Quezon City is PHP 20,000 (US$ 400). It might be better to look for a smaller unit if you want to save on rent.

Pasig City

Pasig is one of the cities in Metro Manila that experienced rapid growth in recent years. The city is home to central business districts like Ortigas Center and Pioneer. It also has many shopping malls, restaurants, and bars. Additionally, Pasig is known for its green spaces, with parks like Greenwood and La Mesa Eco Park.

The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Pasig is PHP 18,000 (US$ 360). You can find cheaper units if you are willing to live further from the city center. Pasig has many residential options, from small suburban subdivisions to traditional Philippine villages. It might be a more affordable option, but at least you are near your workplace.

Taguig City

Taguig is a rapidly growing city in Metro Manila, with over 700,000. The city is home to central business districts like Bonifacio Global City and Arca South. It also has many shopping malls, restaurants, and bars. Additionally, Taguig is known for its green spaces, with parks like BGC Park and Fort Bonifacio Park.

Some of the most powerful authority figures in the country are in Taguig City, which means it might be expensive to live there.

Binondo, Manila

Binondo is the Chinatown of Manila and one of the oldest districts in the city. The area is home to many Chinese businesses, from restaurants to temples. However, it will be the thrift store lifestyle that might attract you. Binondo is also a central shopping district, with stores selling everything from electronics to clothes at a significantly lower price.

The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Binondo is PHP 15,000 (US$ 300). You can find cheaper units if you are willing to live further from the city center. Additionally, many apartments in Binondo are old and not well-maintained. If you want to live in a modern apartment, you might have to pay more rent. Fortunately, Binondo condominiums can provide the amenities and security you need for comfortable and convenient living.

Conclusion

There are many great places to live in Metro Manila, depending on your budget and lifestyle. No matter where you choose to live, there will be a place that suits your needs and budget.
