A New Experience: Adjusting to the Condo Life

December 14, 2020

Looking to move to a new place? If you’re a single adult who values convenience above all, condo living may be the right one for you. You are just steps away from important places, such as your office, groceries, restaurants, hospitals, and transport terminals. It’s pretty much a low-maintenance property; when you come in, all you need to bring are your furniture pieces.

But before you sign that contract of the condo for sale you’re going to buy, you need to manage your expectations first. Condominiums are a whole lot different from traditional homes. Their features will surely warrant some adjustments on your end.

Below are some of the things (both pros and cons) that you may need to keep in mind once you live in a condo:

There’s less stress

Admittedly, there is less stress when you move into a condo. Unlike traditional houses that require garden maintenance and annual inspection, condominiums give you the freedom from such duties. So whether it’s fall or winter, you will not find yourself sweeping dry leaves and shoveling snow. Your condo fees got you covered. Furthermore, since condos are usually located in prime cities, you will not need to worry about getting late to work since you’re close to transport terminals. Venues where you can destress, such as spas and bars, are just within reach, too.

You still can organize parties

Yes, you can still invite your family and friends over during Thanksgiving or Christmas – as long as the guest list is not that long! However, if you feel like your gathering will have many guests, you can always book the condominium complex’s part room. However, you should be conscious of the noise that you will make. Otherwise, you will need to deal with the complaints from your neighbors.

You may be bothered by some noise

As you become a condo owner, you will realize that you will need to bear with different types of noise. For instance, the party next door may disrupt your sleep. Every month, there’s a chance that the fire alarm will sound off even in the wee hours of the morning. You will soon find that routine building maintenance will not take your schedule into account – there will be instances where you will see window cleaners tapping into your window.

There are fees you need to cover

Comfort comes with a price, as you will need to cover a few fees in your condo. For example, you will need to pay the maintenance fees. There will also be insurance fees, but this will be worth it. And the party rooms mentioned earlier? Yes, they come with a price tag.

Decide before you buy

Before you settle for condo living, you need to check and manage your expectations. This is because your purchase or lease of the property can be quite expensive, a significant investment to make. Doing your due diligence will help you avoid buyer’s remorse in the end and will allow you to maximize your property.
