4 productive activities you can do during the lockdown | My Zeo

Being stuck at home can be really tough for some or a blessing for others. However, it is important to create new routines and hobbies to make the time we have stuck inside as meaningful as possible. Doing activities is a great way to reduce anxiety and to create a sense of normality. So, how do you make the most of the lockdown? What are the best activities to start right now?

Gardening

Taking care of plants is a great way to unwind, relax and occupy your mind in a productive way. You could start with buying some small plants and take care of them on a daily basis but if you really want to tackle a big project, you could start a vegetable patch and even put together a polytunnel or greenhouse in your garden. There are many great companies out there such as Premier Polytunnels who would happily give you construction advice as well.

Running

You don’t have to run a 10K or have an incredible pace, you could and should start slowly with intervals of walking and running. There are many apps out there like Couch to 5K that are great to get you started and moving gradually. Running is a good way to get out of your home and to use that extra energy and frustration you may have built up throughout the day. Besides, working out releases endorphins which are essentials for your mental health.

Decluttering

At the moment, we spend more time than ever in our homes and now is the perfect time to start cleaning and decluttering your space. You can tackle a room a day and take your time to really think of what you need and don’t need. It’s also great to clear your mind and make you more efficient in your housework.

Play!

If you have kids, now is the best time to spend some quality time with them. You could build a fort, play with Lego or Playmobil or do some drawing/painting with them. If you don’t have kids, then you can still play and embrace your inner child. Puzzles, videogames, board games, dressing up, quizzes, there are many ways you can still play and have fun as an adult. If you have pets going to the park and playing with them could be a great way to have fun too.
