What kind of pots are the best for outdoor plants?

May 24, 2022

Plants add up to your life. They add the tint that you might be needing in your life. Most people do not keep indoor plants due to the less availability of sunlight and other natural stuff needed for them to grow.

Therefore, many people love decorating their gardens or their balconies with outdoor plants, which not only adds to the beauty but also helps as a hobby in your free leisure time. There are so many different types and sizes of pots to use outdoors.

When it comes to choosing the right size for it, there is no right answer to it. If you intend to put the plant as a cultivator it’s recommended to choose a pot that has natural materials like terra cotta or stone that offer good drainage or just as merely decorative, which might do great with fibreglass or a cachepot container, which no doubt would add more aesthetics to your garden.

Sometimes the choice also depends on the cost you are willing to spend on it. Large planters usually cost more, therefore in case of tight budgets, one might consider small plants or slow-growing plants in order to avoid re-pot too often.

The best material for outdoor plant pots?

  • Stone planters

The pots made of stone are excellent to use for outdoor plant containers because its naturally resistant to mould and mildew and have great absorbent qualities. They are available in various colours to match the aesthetics of your garden.

  • Wood containers

They are another popular pot available in different styles and colours and can be easily available in garden pot supplies stores. They are eco-friendly and won’t leave the chemicals in your plants.

  • Plastic containers

One of the inexpensive containers and great for starting off small young plants. These are lightweight and also come in various sizes as well as colours making them a very simple material to produce or maintain.

  • Fibreglass containers

They are just like plastic planters because they are very light weighted and the process of manufacturing that they go through makes them very easy to mold into various shapes.

These will be available easily in garden pot supplies and are matted together in order to create a sleek and non-porous material. They are more natural as compared to plastic pots and healthier as well.

  • Metal containers

Metal containers like cast iron have the tendency to rust. Thus, it is better to use them indoors or at places where they won’t get them, often. They are not highly advisable because they do not have enough drainage holes and are prone to rust that might damage your plants.

  • Concrete containers

These are available in almost many gardens and balconies. They are suitable for heavy traffic areas because they are durable as well as weather resistant.

They also have the tendency to lose moisture quickly which is a growth factor for plants. Garden pot supplies stores provide a wide range of styles when it comes to concrete containers. Three are readily available in various finishes, colours, textures and shapes to go well with the garden.
