Is Condo Living Right for You?

April 6, 2020

Are you thinking of buying a condo, but still indecisive? Discover the pros and cons of condo living to decide if it is right for you.

Owning a condo offers a lot of luxurious benefits, but condo living isn’t for everyone.

You’ll want to take a deep look into your lifestyle, budget, and needs to determine if you’d be a good fit for the condo life.

So is buying a condo a good idea for you? Let’s dive into some of the pros and cons of owning a condo.

Amenities

Many condominiums come with a large variety of amenities available for owners to use.

Recreational amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, game rooms, dog parks, and gyms are typical at most modern condominiums. Many are also fitted with 24-hour security or gated for protection against home invasions or unwelcome guests.

Having all these conveniences within walking distance of your front door is a huge benefit to condo living.

Those conveniences come at a price, though. Typically, the more amenities you have the higher your condo association fees will be. It’s important to review the association documents before purchasing a new condo.

Maintenance

If you hate the idea of pulling weeds or cutting your lawn, you may want to consider looking for condos for sale.

As a condo owner, you would not be responsible for common area maintenance. That means you can enjoy the pool without having to keep it clean and perfectly pH balanced. You’ll have a yard that you can have a picnic on but not have to mow, weed, seed, or water it.

The inside of your condo, though, will be up to you to clean and maintain. Any repairs or maintenance needed for your unit will be your responsibility.

Location

Many condominiums are located very close to or within larger cities.

This puts condo owners in a prime location to avoid much of the traffic for their commute to work. You may even be able to walk or bike to work and avoid traffic altogether.

Living in or near the city also means you’ll be close to attractions, like shopping centers, restaurants, and nightlife venues. Someone with a bustling social life would enjoy the close proximity to attractions condo living has to offer.

Living in a city comes with a few drawbacks, the biggest of which being noise from traffic. Be sure to pay close attention to the noise level when you view a condo you may potentially purchase. Visit during different times of the day and week to get a well-rounded idea of what level of noise to expect from the area.

Condo Living — Is It Right for You?

Does the idea of sitting poolside, sipping on a cool drink while not worrying one bit about scooping leaves and debris from the pool make you want to race to find the perfect condos for sale?

Condo living isn’t right for everyone, but it does have a lot to offer. It’s certainly worth considering if you are in the market for a new place to call home.
