After a long hard day of being at work or looking after the kids (sometimes both), your bedroom is the place to really sit back, relax and wind down. It’s also the one space in the house you can make your own.
If you want to make that room a little more luxurious, we’ve got you covered: from what colours you use to the little details like adding more light, we have the tips on how to make these changes easily.
Have a statement piece
The statement item of furniture for every bedroom is, of course, the bed – it’s usually the first thing anyone sees when they enter the room. When you think of luxury beds, most people will think about the comfiest or grandest bed they have slept in, which will more than likely be one in a hotel. Take inspiration from hotels with a comfy divan bed, like the ones available from Divan Beds Centre – add a tall headboard to really finish it off.
Go green
Adding a few spots of green around a room can introduce some flair and a touch of luxury. The best way to do this is with some beautiful plants and flowers. A snake plant will add different tones of green to a room and grow nice and tall if you want it to, while a ZZ plant is great for low-light areas and thanks to its waxy leaves can reflect light around the space.
Think about layers
We’ve all been to those hotels where the bed and chairs are covered in throws and layers of cushions. They ooze glamour, especially if you mix textures – such as a fur throw, with crushed velvet cushions – maybe even some touches of glitter or sequins can make the bed pop. Contrasting colours are also a fantastic way to make your room look more luxurious – a white duvet cover with dark-coloured cushions and throw is a good place to start.
Make it bright
One of the most opulent lights a room could have is a chandelier. However, if you are unable to add a chandelier for the room’s main light, you could add mini ones in a similar style for the bedside tables, or a standing one. While lighting fixtures are really important, don’t forget about natural light. If blinds restrict light from pouring into the room, consider curtains. If you have plain walls you could get some gorgeous gold textured ones – these will then reflect the light even more.
Update the hardware
Little details can make a big difference. If you have plastic drawer knobs or door handles, consider updating these to shiny metal ones. For the knobs, you can add crystal ones, or porcelain ones which feature an intricate design. Add an ornate mirror which boasts a stunning frame. As well as looking gorgeous, it will also help to make the room look bigger and brighter.
Making your bedroom look more luxurious doesn’t need to cost a lot. Little things can be done to enhance different areas of the room while adding glamour and charm.
