3 Vegetables You Can Still Plant in Late September

September 30, 2019

Gardening can help you get away from it all to clear your mind and make the interior around you beautiful. These are brief description of 3 vegetables you still have time to plant this fall and routines that are required for their successful growing.

Asparagus

The great thing about asparagus is that is a perennial herb. Throughout the period of its existence it can grow up to 5 feet high, creating more than 50 shoots during. It is pretty endurant vegetable and it can be found in Europe, in Asia, Africa and even in Siberia. With proper nurturing it can live in the same place for over 20 years.

Asparagus care comes down to the timely watering, fertilizing and loosening the soil. Watering has to be systematic and in small portions. The main goal that you will have is to prevent stagnation of water, since asparagus cannot live in these conditions. However, the slightest drying of the soil will also not benefit it. Loosening is preferably carried out after each watering, but at least 7-8 times per season. If you feel like these conditions fit your “caring criteria”, you might want to get into details of how to plant asparagus, as the season for it is almost over.

Carrot

Carrot is another vegetable that can be found in gardens all around the world. Root crops contain a lot of useful substances, such as carotenoids, phytoen, lycopene, pantothenic and ascorbic acids, essential oils. Growing carrots in a summer cottage will provide vitamins to the table all year round. But if you plant it in late September, you still might surprise yourself with little harvest.

In order for carrots to grow sweet and beautiful, regular soil cultivation are necessary. The first weeding may be required before seed germination. The soil on the bed should always be loose. Soil compaction and the formation of a crust provoke the curvature of root crops. They can grow large and they will not look aesthetically. Therefore, regular loosening of soil in the garden is a mandatory procedure. If these nurturing rules doesn’t scare you, guide on how to grow carrots will serve you as a great starting point.

Beets

By nutritional value beets go right after the carrots. Beets relate to the category of two-year-old vegetables. Beets also have pretty great endurance and have all chances to grow successfully, unless your garden is located in Antarctica.

Nurturing growing beets requires removal of weeds from the place where you decide to grow it, regular watering and loosening of row-spacings. Seasonable removal of weed is the most important aspect that can play a crucial role in growing beets.
