Simple Ways to Relieve Stress

Whether it is mild, moderate, or severe nobody is immune to being stressed. Stress can cause a lot of effects on your mind and body if you can’t relieve it and allow yourself to suffer from becoming too stressed out. Some common symptoms of stress include fatigue (low energy), lack of motivation or interest in hobbies, anxiety, nervousness, headaches, sadness, appetite changes, and much more. The health conditions that can be caused by stress are depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and anxiety. There are plenty of ways to relieve stress so you don’t have to suffer from any of these issues.

Exercise

One great way to relieve stress is to actually put physical stress on your body, exercising. Benefits tend to strengthen when you exercise regularly so do your best to do so. Exercising releases cortisol which helps relieve stress hormones. Also, it releases endorphins that help improve your mood and boost your confidence.

Shopping can be another good way to relieve stress as it releases endorphins that make you feel good. Otherwise known as retail therapy can help boost your mood and can give you a sense of control when going to buy a few things for yourself.

A valuable tool to handle your stress is to journal in a notebook. Studies have shown that this has helped improve people’s mental health when they were stressed out. It doesn’t matter what you write in this notebook, you can write whatever you want. It’s up to you to write about how your feeling, what happened throughout the day, was today a good day. Do not allow any obstacles to get in your way—try to make time to journal down your feelings and thoughts, you’ll be surprised how much it could help.

Listen to Something Soothing, and Sing

An extremely effective way to combat stress is to listen to music. Listening to soothing music has been known to slow down heart rates, pulse, lower blood pressure, and decrease stress hormones. When people are actively feeling depressed they feel like listening to music is a waste of time because they have so much on their mind. But, if they were to listen to music while completing their tasks—they would do so with lower levels of stress.

You can also sing, it doesn’t matter how your voice may sound because singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress and help relieve anxiety. In order to boost your mood up give singing a try whenever you get too stressed out. Scientists have discovered what is called a sacculus which is a tiny organ within the ear that responds to frequencies solely created by singing. This response has been known to immediately release pleasure hormones, so next time your feeling down sing a tune.
