Preventing Wrinkles: How It’s Done

It’s no secret that UV rays and too much sunlight cause your skin to wrinkle, but did you know that not drinking enough water can too?

From smoking to not sleeping on your back, there are many things that cause wrinkles. Luckily, preventing wrinkles is much easier than getting rid of wrinkles. You just have to know what to do!

Protect Your Skin From the Sun

Perhaps the most obvious way to stop skin aging and prevent facial wrinkles like crows feet is to protect your skin from the sun.

You don’t have to stay out of the sun completely but make sure that you always protect your skin when you’re in it, even if it’s for as little as 10 minutes.

Wear an SPF of at least 30 to 50, even if it’s not sunny. UV rays can still affect your skin when it’s overcast. If you want added protection, wear sunglasses with UV protection, a hat, and UV protective clothing.

Moisturize Your Skin

Think about what happens to fruit as it dehydrates. It shrivels up and dries out. The same thing happens to your skin when you don’t moisturize it or hydrate it.

Moisturizing your skin is like water for your body. It works to both hydrate and nourish your skin, especially your face. Old age makes people more prone to wrinkles, which is why the earlier you begin moisturizing, the better.

Look for moisturizers with vitamin C and hyaluronic acid as those ingredients help alleviate wrinkles.

Drink Water

Drinking water is not only good for your internal health, but your external health as well. It flushes toxins from your body, helps you digest, regulates your body temperature, and keeps you hydrated.

Hydration on the inside affects whether or not skin is hydrated, too. Drink water to keep your skin healthy and hydrated.

Sleep On Your Back

The way you sleep can have a significant impact on wrinkle formation. Sleeping on your side could make you more prone to mechanical compression forces, which speed up wrinkle formation and distort your facial skin.

Try sleeping on your back instead of your stomach or your side.

Go for silk pillowcases too as these create less friction than cotton against your skin.

Avoid Smoking

Laugh lines are something you can’t avoid, but smoker’s lines are something you can.

Repeatedly pursing your lips to inhale can lead to wrinkling around the mouth. Plus, tobacco smoke damages elastin and collagen. Both fibers give your skin strength and elasticity.

Using collagen can help alleviate the damage tobacco does, but your best bet is to avoid smoking entirely.

Preventing Wrinkles Is Easy and Effective

Getting rid of wrinkles often requires invasive and expensive procedures. However, preventing wrinkles is much easier to do. When you do simple thinks like sleep on your back and make sure you’re moisturizing your skin regularly, you can decrease potential wrinkle formation significantly.

Drink lots of water, protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays, and avoid smoking as much as you can.
