Drug and Alcohol Rehab FAQ: Your 5 Biggest Questions, Answered!

August 18, 2020

At some point in their lives, 10 percent of Americans will have issues with substance addiction. If you or someone that you love is suffering from addiction, you might be considering going to rehab.

This is a big step to take and it’s fantastic that you’re doing the research to learn more. Yet many people have lots of questions about rehab.

That’s what we’re here to help with. In this article, we’re going to give you a rehab FAQ to answer the most common questions people have about rehab.

Are you ready to find out more? Then read on.

Will I Be Forced to Stay in Rehab?

If you’ve gone into rehab, you will not be forced to stay. While you will usually have to give up your phone or computer, you won’t be made to stay in rehab if you want to leave, apart from in very limited circumstances.

In general, if you have entered rehab of your own free will, you can also leave it of your own free will, at any time. Rehab is not like prison. However, we’d recommend that you stay with your rehab until you’re sober, or next time you’ll have to start from the beginning all over again.

How Will I Pay for Rehab?

Financial worries are one of the most common concerns people have about going into rehab. Thankfully, there are a wide variety of ways that you can pay for treatment.

A lot of health insurance policies cover rehab treatments. If your insurance doesn’t cover rehab, there are non-profit treatment centers that have low or no fees.

Government programs and private funds can also pay for your rehab treatment in some cases. If necessary, you may have to sell some possessions to pay for rehab but if you are suffering from addiction issues, this is well worth it.

What Is Life Like in Rehab?

Life in rehab can vary a lot depending on the treatment facility that you’re attending. Some are luxurious facilities with large gardens and a wide range of activities. Others are more sparse.

When you have gone through detox and you’re undergoing treatment, life will be dominated by treatment and programs that can help you discover new passions. Some rehab centers offer meditation classes, gardening classes, and fitness programs.

Will I Be Supported After I Leave?

When your treatment is completed, you’ll move out of the center but you won’t be alone. Many rehab clinics offer additional services such as halfway housing, help finding employment, and regular counseling sessions to help you stay on track.
