One of the biggest risks which we are all running in being locked down at home following the CoVid-19 pandemic, is that we leave quarantine with some extra weight. As my physician has been telling me, the great Dr. David Crawford, lockdown is going to mean one of two things for people, they either leave it looking fit and strong, or they leave it looking overweight and unhealthy.
The fact that we are not doing things as we normally would means that we aren’t burning calories like we usually do, and given the added risks of eating junk and relaxing at home, it is clear that physical health is incredibly important to us all, and here is how to stay on top of it.
Daily Workouts
There are a number of celebrities and sports stars in particular who are doing daily workouts and inviting people to join in and this is a great way of staying social and staying in shape. Many of these can be found on Instagram live and on YouTube and not only are they a good way of keeping you in good condition, they are often at the same time each day which helps to give you something of a routine.
Stairs
If you live in a house with more than one story or you in an apartment block then taking the stairs is going to be a great way of ensuring that you keep on burning those calories. Even if you spend half an hour walking up and down the same set of stairs, it may be boring but it is going to make sure that you are able to keep in shape and keep those calories burning, which is going to be critical to you staying in shape.
Diet
It is not just the exercise which you need to make sure that you are on top of, it is also the diet side of things which will be so important. The temptation here is that because you are trapped it home, it becomes much easier to indulge in treats and sugary snacks, which of course are not going to do very much in terms of you sticking to a diet. With this in mind it is more important than ever before that you do what you can to stick to a healthy diet, at least for 6 days of the week. Remember that you have lots of time on your hands to prepare some amazing healthy dishes, so invest the time wisely and make sure that you are eating well.
Keep in mind what Dr. David says about the two types of people which will be coming out of lockdown, and ask yourself which category do you want to fall into? Will you be the person coming out of quarantine in great shape, or will you be the one with some extra pounds that you’ll have to work hard afterwards to burn off?
