7 Conditions That Medical Marijuana Can Help Treat

February 22, 2022

When you’re suffering from any illness, you search for the most effective treatment method to get back on your feet as soon as possible. If you’ve tried other drugs and therapies to relieve the symptoms of your disease and they don’t seem to work, maybe it’s time to explore medical marijuana as an alternative treatment method. Research has shown the effectiveness of marijuana for symptom relief, and this had led to this substance’s legalization in various states.

We’ll look at some of the conditions medical marijuana can help. However, note that if you’re in a state like Ohio, you need an Ohio medical marijuana card and a prescription to use this substance. That means you need to visit a doctor first to determine whether it’s safe for you to consume marijuana for your condition.

1. Arthritis

Studies have shown that marijuana can help reduce pain and inflammation from arthritis. Arthritis is a condition that many people suffer from as they get older, and it can make simple actions like walking painful. In some cases, arthritis can cause the joints of an individual’s body to become deformed and s/he will lose the ability to function as well as before. Marijuana can help alleviate pain, as well as reduce the inflammation that’s associated with this condition.

2. Multiple Sclerosis

People who suffer from multiple sclerosis experience a number of symptoms of this condition. A person with multiple sclerosis can experience muscle spasms, tremors, and a loss of coordination among other symptoms. Marijuana is effective in relieving the pain and muscle stiffness that are associated with this condition. Also, marijuana can improve a person’s balance and relieve tremors or shaking.

3. Alzheimer’s Disease

Marijuana may not cure Alzheimer’s Disease, but it can help treat the symptoms of this condition. Studies have shown that marijuana can increase a person’s appetite, and it can help improve their mood and decrease feelings of anxiety. Also, patients who use marijuana to treat Alzheimer’s Disease experience fewer delusions and hallucinations than patients who don’t use it.

4. Cancer

Some forms of chemotherapy can be hard on the body, so marijuana is often prescribed to patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. Marijuana can help reduce the nausea that may be associated with chemotherapy, as well as increase a person’s appetite. Also, marijuana can help alleviate the pain and stiffness that a person experiences as a side effect of chemotherapy.

5. Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory condition that affects the digestive system of individuals. Marijuana can help reduce the pain associated with this condition, and it can also increase a person’s appetite. Studies have shown that people who use marijuana for Crohn’s Disease are more likely to be able to keep their disease under control than people who don’t use any treatment method at all.

6. Glaucoma

One of the main causes of blindness in most countries is glaucoma, and marijuana can help treat this condition. If you’re suffering from glaucoma, your optic nerve is under increased pressure due to fluid. Marijuana can help reduce that pressure and ensure that glaucoma doesn’t cause you to lose your vision.

7. Seizure Disorders

Studies have shown that marijuana can help reduce the frequency of seizures for people who suffer from seizure disorders. Seizure disorders like epilepsy can be very dangerous because they prevent a person from being conscious and reacting normally. Marijuana is effective in suppressing seizure activity, and this means you won’t have to worry about seizures as often.

There are many conditions that medical marijuana can help with. If you’re suffering from one of the conditions we’ve talked about, talk to your doctor or health care professional about whether medical marijuana is the right choice for you. That way, you can feel better and enjoy your life without worrying too much about your condition.
