3 Warning Signs You Need Emergency Dental Care

October 1, 2020

Dental issues can range from nonserious to severe. If you’re suffering from a severe dental issue, then you’ll want to see a dentist as soon as possible. Letting certain problems go without proper dental work can cause even more serious problems down the road.

Are you not sure if what you’re experiencing is a problem serious enough for emergency dental care? Continue reading below for our guide on several warning signs that you need emergency dental work done.

1. You’ve Cracked or Broken a Tooth

A chipped tooth, if only chipped slightly, might not be a reason to seek emergency dental care. If you crack or break a tooth, however, then you should visit a dentist immediately.

The same is true if a tooth is knocked out of your mouth completely. Seeking emergency care will help you manage the pain and will help try to save your tooth as well. If you wait too long to receive care, it might be too late to save it.

You’ll also be able to look at some affordable dental implants if the tooth or teeth are unable to be saved.

2. There’s a Growth or Sore in Your Mouth

A new growth or sore in your mouth that doesn’t go away could be a sign of serious problems, such as oral cancer. A normal mouth sore that goes away after a few days or a week is common. If you notice a sore or growth, then be sure to keep an eye on it to see if it continues to grow.

If the sore never goes away or continues to get worse over time, you’ll want to visit a dentist to have it checked out.

They’ll be able to screen for cancer and provide or give you resources for all necessary treatment for the growth or sore no matter what it is.

3. You Have a Severe Toothache

Some minor toothaches are common and happen for a variety of reasons. If you’re suffering from a common cold or sinus issues, then there may be pressure placed on your jaw and teeth, causing a toothache.

Wisdom teeth coming in will cause other teeth to push into one another when there’s not enough room in your mouth. This can cause tooth pain as well. When you’re suffering from a severe toothache with no apparent cause that doesn’t seem to get any better, then it’s time to contact your dentist.

Even if the issue is a simple cavity inside a tooth, you’ll want to ensure it’s nothing serious and then receive the proper treatment for it.

Don’t Hesitate to Receive Emergency Dental Care

If you’re suffering from any of these dental issues listed above, then you shouldn’t hesitate to receive emergency dental care. It’s always a good idea to pick up the phone and contact your dentist first.

Let them know about the current dental problems you’re having and then visit the office as soon as possible.
