Can you remember the last time you got drunk? It was probably fun at the time but you no doubt regretted it the next morning and for days to come.
There is a problem in society where it is often claimed that you can’t have fun on nights out, while on dates or when simply socializing with your friends. This is a toxic message that can start to seep into your life when there are loads of ways of living a sober life and still have fun.
Here are the benefits of being sober.
1. No More Hangovers
Hangovers are generally caused by dehydration which is one of the side effects of drinking excessive amounts of alcohol.
Whilst they say hangovers can be avoided by drinking water before you go to bed, if you are drunk you are likely to forget or be unable to drink enough to compensate.
Drinking alcohol poisons your body with toxins so it is no surprise that the next day you feel awful as your body attempts to cleanse them from your system.
Drinking also usually involves staying out to the early hours of the morning which would make you tired anyway but when you put the added strain on your system of trying to clean out the poison in the alcohol you can lose the next day.
Becoming sober can mean you get more of your life back.
2. Able to Think More Clearly
Alcohol clouds your judgment and can make you feel less or more emotional as it is a depressant. It is not good for you and can lead you to make poor decisions. Mixing it with other drugs like cocaine also makes this worse and can have deadly consequences.
If you drink every day you can feel isolated and mentally unbalanced. Alcohol is also addictive and you may want to consider ANR treatment. What is ANR? You can find out here.
Getting off alcohol can make you see the world in a completely different light that can help you change your life for the better.
3. Better Relationships and Sex Life
We’ve all been there, drunkingly hitting on people during the early hours of the morning and then coming to regret it the next day.
The worry is not that alcohol enhances our sex lives but that it leads us to have sex with people we have no real interest in. This can make us feel vacuous and like we are unable to maintain meaningful relationships with anyone.
Alcohol can also inhibit a person’s sex life causing temporary impotence or encounters where neither party is considering each other’s needs and the sex is not enjoyable.
There Are Numerous Benefits of Being Sober
The benefits of being sober seem to outweigh any of the positive aspects of drinking. You can form better relationships and have better sex but you are also able to make more informed decisions about your life that alcohol sometimes inhibits.
It also allows you to feel clear and fresh in your mind the following day rather than having to take a day off to recover. Not only will your physical body feel better for becoming sober and living a sober life, but your mental health will improve as well as alcohol can cause long term mental health issues.
