YouTube has been around since 2005 and it’s grown into a massive platform where creators from all around the world can share their content with their fans. It’s no wonder so many people want to get big on YouTube, but many don’t know how to get subscribers on YouTube.
To help you out and clear the waters, we’re going to tell you some good tips on just how to do so. Let’s take a look.
Create Good Content
This seems like an obvious point, but it can be a little more complicated than you think. The trick to the best content for your channel to create content that your audience enjoys and content that you enjoy. This will ensure long-term success for you and your channel.
If it leans too much in one direction, then you may struggle. If you strictly pander to your audience, they’ll enjoy it, but you won’t be having a good time and if you create content that only you and some close friends enjoy, then your audience may weaken. It’s all about understanding what you want for your channel and making sure you don’t lose focus of that.
Building Your Community
Building and maintaining a decent sized community is an important step to gaining more subscribers on YouTube. If you don’t have fans, you won’t grow as a creator. If you look at your favorite musician or some of the most successful artists, you’ll realize that if they didn’t have people who enjoyed their content and them as a person, they wouldn’t be where they are today.
The key to keeping a strong community on YouTube is to interact with them. Reply to every single comment (or at least as many as you can), create some sort of video where you answer their questions, and you could even go the extra mile of creating a subreddit or a Discord server where you and your fans can communicate and interact on a regular basis. This bridge allows the two parties to feel heard and will help the channel grow even more, as your community will undoubtedly recommend you to their friends and family.
Advertise, Advertise, Advertise
While we’re on the topic of channel growth, advertising is crucial when trying to grow your channel. Especially when you’re just starting out and have a very small following. How are you going to advertise though?
Well, since you likely don’t have the money to put out actual ads and if you did that isn’t a very smart move as a small creator or a big creator, you have to work with what you have. Every time you make a new video spread it like wildfire. Share it on all of your social media platforms, share it with your family, and tell your friends to watch and share it.
While it may not reach too many new viewers, it will tremendously help you. All of these people watching your videos will allow your video to get seen by others on YouTube itself. Let’s get into that a little bit more.
Knowing the System
Back in the day, YouTube used to be all about views. The more views you got, the more your video was boosted by the algorithm. Currently, YouTube runs on one thing and one thing only: watch time.
Watch time is how much of the video the viewer watches. Videos with higher watch time get promoted by YouTube’s algorithm which will increase your reach on the site. This is why it’s important to make videos with engaging content that are at least ten minutes long, so that way it’s not too short, it’s not too long, and your watch time rates will go up.
