If you’re looking for a host of new and exciting outdoor hobbies to try, then you’re definitely in the right place. We’ve compiled a whole list that’ll keep you busy this summer. Read on to learn what they are!
1. Hiking
If you’re a city-dweller, then you may not know much about hiking apart from the fact that it happens outdoors and involves unpaved terrain. The truth is, no matter where you live, there’s always a place within a couple of hours where you can get away from the city and explore the great outdoors. Remember to prepare yourself against the elements and harsh weather with women’s thermals if it’s cold, and SPF for sun protection.
Once you’ve got the basics down, you can even start planning trips to some of the most stunning hiking sites throughout the country! Break out your hiking boots, friends, and get wild!
2. Birding
If you’d rather relax and take in the sights, then birding might be for you. In fact, if you have a hankering to try some outdoor hobbies at home, then this one is the best.
All you need to get started with birding a field guide to identify birds and a pair of binoculars. You can start small by hanging out in your yard and checking out the local wildlife. Head to the beach or the lake to see a whole host of different bird species.

Well, that dream can become a reality thanks to geocaching. All you need to do is download the geocaching app and use it to search for hidden items. Geocaching is a worldwide practice, so no matter where you are, you can almost certainly find something exciting hidden!
4. Rock Climbing
If you’re a thrill-seeker, then you’re going to love rock climbing.
Unfamiliar with how rock climbing works? All you need to do is find an obstacle and try to climb over it. Most rock climbers use ropes and carabiners to make sure that they stay safe while climbing, and many rocks already have hooks you can attach to.
Start small with bouldering if you don’t feel comfortable with rock climbing just yet. Who knows, maybe you’ll be climbing Half-Dome in Yosemite someday!
