Why Kratom is Great for Pain Management

May 5, 2019

Are you struggling with managing your chronic pain?

Doctors are quick to prescribe narcotic pain killers despite the opioid crisis that’s destroying communities across the country. Besides the high possibility of becoming addicted, these pills also come with a whole slew of side effects.

Luckily, there’s an alternative to opioids that you are probably unfamiliar with. Kratom is a substance that more and more chronic pain suffers are turning to for relief.

If you’re looking to substitute your prescription pain medicine you should try kratom. Keep reading to learn why it’s so effective for pain management.

What Is Kratom?

Kratom comes from the tropical kratom tree found in Southeast Asia. Surprisingly, it’s in the same plant family as coffee.

The part of the plant that’s ingested for medicinal purposes is the kratom leaf. In the leaf exists two compounds that can lessen pain.

In fact, it interacts with the same part of the brain as opioid pain killers. That’s why many are using it to safely wean off opioids and lessen withdrawal symptoms.

Though many people haven’t heard of kratom yet, it’s a plant that’s been used for centuries in Eastern cultures. People in Thailand and Malaysia swear by its effectiveness in treating pain, depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

How Do You Take It

Most commonly, kratom is taken in powder form. The loose powder can be mixed in a drink or with food.

An even easier way is to try red bali kratom capsules. Using capsules is a great way to keep track of how much you’re taking.

It’s hard to determine how much kratom a person should take because it varies for everyone. What’s right for you depends on weight, age, tolerance, and more.

Start off by taking 2-3 grams on an empty stomach. That will allow it to absorb faster.

Wait about an hour to take stock of how you’re feeling. If you don’t notice any difference, take another gram and then wait again to reassess.

Is It Legal?

More and more people are using cannabis to manage their chronic pain. However, because it’s classified as a Schedule 1 drug, it’s illegal in many areas.

In the last few years, the DEA has started to crack down on kratom. But it’s still more widely available than marijuana.

Currently, the only states that have effectively banned it are Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Additionally, there are some areas where it’s legal in the state, but some cities within it have banned it.

Before you try to purchase kratom, double check that it’s legal in your city or county.

Kratom for Pain Management: The Takeaway

The use of opioids for pain management is dangerous and addictive. If you’re looking for a safer alternative, give kratom a try.
