Why Body Hygiene Makes a Difference for Those Around You

Hygiene is important in all facets of life. If you’re a dirty person, you’re going to have a difficult time keeping people around you.

In this post, we’re going to talk about why personal home and body hygiene is so incredibly important. Even if you don’t care about your hygiene, you have to realize that other people do. Let’s get to the bottom of this issue.

Why Is Body Hygiene and Cleanliness Important?

Maintaining good hygiene has been important to humans since the ancient Egyptians. You might think that you can get away without keeping yourself clean, but we’ve got news for you, everyone notices. Unless you’re really hard up, there’s no excuse for poor hygiene. Why, you ask?

Good for Your Health

You have to take your own health into consideration. Bad hygiene can both, directly and indirectly, lead to a plethora of illnesses. 

Regularly brushing your teeth can prevent gingivitis, gum disease, plaque, and tooth decay. Washing your hair can prevent head lice and ingrown hair.

Cleaning your body can prevent infections from bacteria getting in cuts as well as bad acne and other skin related illnesses. And, washing your hands can prevent a litany of illnesses. Neglecting hand washing after using the washroom or handling food can even lead to widespread illness in those around you.

Good for Your Relationships

Bad body hygiene can be horrible for your social life. This is especially true for children that have to go to school with other kids every day. Poor hygiene leads to severe bullying.

If you’ve got children and you’re not sure about their hygiene or you don’t care about the cleanliness of your house, try to remember that your kids are suffering because of this. Children should be shown the importance of this at a young age in order to establish these values and avoid any scrutiny from their classmates.

Even as an adult, hygiene issues can keep you from excelling in social situations. If you’re not perceived as a clean person, friends will refrain from inviting you to parties or establishments where you’re required to look a certain way.

Self Confidence

Of course, if your relationships are suffering from body hygiene issues, then your self-esteem will crater as a result. Often, people that already have low self-esteem begin to neglect their hygiene as a result of their body image issues. This creates a downward spiral that is hard to bounce back from.

The way that television, movies, and the media portray famous people as perfect specimens of humanity is detrimental to many normal people’s self-confidence. It’s important for everyone, especially young people, to realize that they don’t have to look like the people in the magazines. However, hygiene is important to their physical health, as well as their relationships and self-confidence.

Keep Your Home Clean Too

Many of those that deal with poor body hygiene let these issues carry over into their home life. You don’t have to keep your house spotless, but you don’t want to let it turn into a complete mess.

A weekly vacuuming, window cleaning, sweeping, and mopping can prevent things from going downhill too fast. If you neglect these things, it’s easy for asbestos, insects, and rodents to flock to your abode. 

Keep You and Yours Looking Good

Avoid these body hygiene and cleanliness issues by educating yourself further on their importance. If you make it part of a routine, then eventually, you won’t even think about the extra work that you’re putting in. It’ll make your friends and family appreciate the time that they get to spend with you rather than dread it.
