In recent years, surveys have shown that about 90% of Americans watch sports to some degree.
Not all of these people watch sports on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. But many of them will spend some time watching at least the biggest sporting events around.
There are so many different and professional sports that people will watch when given the option. Even those who have never gone through with actually playing sports will pull up a chair in front of the TV to watch them or, better yet, buy tickets to watch them in person.
Today, we’re going to discuss some of the various sporting events that exist right now. You should try to watch some of these sporting events if you consider yourself a sports fan.
Baseball isn’t anywhere near as popular as it once was in this country. But even still, there are millions of people who gather at Major League Baseball ballparks every spring, summer, and fall to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
Many have made the argument that baseball is too slow to regain the popularity that it once had among TV viewers. But there isn’t anything quite like heading out to a ballgame on a beautiful day (or night!) and taking in all the sights and sounds of a baseball game.
You should consider purchasing tickets from one of the many online sports ticket sites if you’re ever interested in making your way out to a game.
A big part of the reason why baseball isn’t as popular as it used to be is that football came along and took the throne from it. Football is, hands down, the most popular sport in the U.S. today.
You could argue that watching a football game from home is better than watching one in person. But that doesn’t stop millions of football fans from flocking to college football and NFL games each year.
If you’ve never attended at least one of these sporting events in person, you should change that ASAP. You’ll be blown away by how much electricity will be in the stands during a football game.
The emergence of college and NBA basketball is yet another reason why baseball has given up its crown in this country. Basketball isn’t quite as popular as football is, but it seems to be getting closer every year.
Watching basketball games at home can be a blast if you want to go in that direction. But you’re guaranteed to get caught up in the fast-paced environment that you’ll find at a basketball game when you’re watching it in person.
It doesn’t matter if you’re taking in a college basketball game at a place like Duke University or watching an NBA contest at a mecca like Madison Square Garden. You’ll be shocked to see how big and fast amateur and pro basketball players are in person.
Hockey is another sport that is better to watch in person as opposed to on TV. While you can get some feel for just how fast hockey games are when you’re watching at home, there is nothing like seeing hockey players go at it on the ice in person.
Hockey is one of the only sports that features almost non-stop action without very many breaks at all. You’re going to fall in love with these sporting events if you’re ever lucky enough to watch them in the flesh.
All of the sporting events that we’ve mentioned thus far involve team sports. Boxing and UFC matches are some of the few sporting events that feature two athletes going against one another without the help of any teammates.
That alone adds an extra level of intrigue to these kinds of sporting events. The tension in the air will be palpable throughout them when you’re there watching them live.
Tickets for boxing and UFC matches will often cost a whole lot more than tickets for other sporting events. But it’ll be well worth paying astronomical prices for them just for the memories that they’ll provide you with.
Unless you happen to stumble upon some doubles matches on TV or in person, tennis matches are another kind of sporting event that feature individuals matching up against one another. You’ll be able to witness two finely-tuned athletes going toe-to-toe during the average tennis match.
You might initially scoff at the idea of attending these sporting events. But they shine a light on things like sportsmanship conduct and are steeped in so much tradition. It’s why some of the major tennis tournaments appear early and often on people’s bucket lists.
A couple of decades ago, the thought of sitting and watching people play video games against one another seemed silly to most people. But those people aren’t laughing anymore.
Believe it or not, e-sports have skyrocketed in popularity over the last 20 years or so. And it won’t take you long to see why when you attend an e-sports tournament. E-sports players are true professionals who can do incredible things when you stick a controller into their hands.
Attend At Least a Few of These Sporting Events at Some Point
If you think of yourself as a sports fan, you’re missing out big-time if you haven’t attended some of these sporting events. You should get into the habit of going to them at least every now and then.
You should be able to scoop up tickets to these sporting events online these days without too much effort on your part. Doing it will prove that you’re a true fan of your favorite sports.
