Tips For A Good Night’s Sleep

April 26, 2018

If you are an insomniac or simply struggle to enjoy a decent night’s sleep on a regular basis, it’s well worth continuing reading to discover 6 handy tips which will ensure that you’ll enjoy a decent night’s sleep.

6 Tips for a good nights sleep:

1. Try drinking chamomile tea 30 minutes before you go to sleep each night

If you often struggle to enjoy a decent night’s sleep, it’s well worth getting into the habit of drinking a cup of hot chamomile tea, approximately 30 minutes before you go to sleep each night. As chamomile is known to help your body relax, which will help you drift off to sleep in a shorter amount of time.

2. Leave your electronics such as your smartphone and laptop outside of your bedroom

If you take your electronics into your bedroom you’ll be tempted to use them in bed. Especially if you have a social media addiction and want to ensure that you’re always the first person to like your friends’ posts.

3. Consider reading a book 30 minutes before you’re due to go to sleep

Many individuals recommend reading before bed as reading often makes people sleepy and also ensures that you stay away from electronic devices which are stimulants for brain and make it difficult for you to drop off to sleep. So if you find it difficult to keep off your smartphone before bed, swap your smartphone for a gripping book and you should find that it’s far easier to drop off to sleep.

4. Invest in a brand new mattress

One of the reasons why you may struggle to get to sleep, within 5 minutes of hopping into your bed is that you may be sleeping on an old, uncomfortable mattress which doesn’t support your spine. If you haven’t replaced your mattress in several years, it may be the perfect time to invest in a brand new, memory foam mattress. Which will cost you a fraction of the price, of purchasing a brand new bed.

5. Make sure that you get to sleep before midnight if you plan on going to work the next day

While there’s no need to go to sleep early every night, on a work night, it’s well worth aiming to get to sleep before midnight. As the average person requires 7-9 hours of rest per night in order for their body to function properly the next day. So if you don’t want to turn up to your workplace feeling sluggish and lethargic, it’s well worth making a habit out of going to sleep before midnight, each work night.

6. Invest in blackout curtains

If the sun rises over an hour before you need to get up in the mornings, it’s well worth investing in high-quality blackout style curtains, which will ensure that your room will remain pitch black, until you’re ready to get up in the morning!

So whether you suffer from insomnia or simply would like to enjoy a better night’s sleep, it’s definitely well worth following all of the 6 handy tips listed above!
