Don’t Ignore The Symptoms: Top 7 Signs You May Have a Respiratory Problem

June 4, 2019

Are you having problems breathing?

It could be a one time fluke, or it could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Respiratory disease is becoming a significant problem in the United States. Death rates have gone up considerably in the past 30 – 40 years.

So how do you know when you need to see a doctor for your respiratory problem? Our post will show you the signs you need to watch for.

Keep reading to learn seven respiratory symptoms that could mean you have a more significant problem.

1. Persistent Cough

Your cough shouldn’t stick around forever. Coughing once in a while it isn’t a problem. But when it lasts for more than a few weeks, it could be a sign of a more significant issue.

2. Chest Pain

When you think of chest pain, you probably think of the area around your lungs. But it doesn’t stop there.

Chest pain can cause issues with your back and shoulders tool. If you have persistent pain in these areas, have a doctor examine you to make sure it isn’t a respiratory problem.

3. Spitting Up Blood

Splitting up blood is never a good sign. It can be a sign of lung cancer or another serious respiratory problem.

Even if it is only a small spec of blood, don’t ignore it. See your doctor immediately.

4. Shortness of Breath

If you are older or have a sedentary life, you could experience shortness of breath.

Shortness of breath isn’t a big deal if it happens when you are active or exercising, but if it happens during everyday life, then it could be because of respiratory problems.

In some cases, you may need to get help breathing if you are diagnosed.

When this happens, you can use a respirator fit testing service to get the product that will help you breath better.

5. Noisy Breathing

When you wheeze when you are breathing, then it could be a sign that you have an obstruction in your airways.

This obstruction can be due to inflammation or your airway narrowing.

6. Chronic Mucus

Did you know mucus is your body’s defense mechanism against infection?

If you keep coughing up mucus, then it may be a sign that your body is trying to fight off disease.

7. Hoarse Voice

When you get the flu or cold, your voice often gets hoarse. This problem should go away after you get better. But if it doesn’t, then it could be a sign of another problem.

Being constantly hoarse is a sign of a change in your vocal cords. This problem can be because of a tumor or issues with your nervous system.

Don’t Let Your Respiratory Problem Go Unchecked

Your health is serious business. If you let issues go for too long, they can cause problems for your health that you wouldn’t expect.

If you have a respiratory problem, see a doctor as soon as possible so you can figure out what is wrong.

If you do discover problems, then you need to make changes to improve your health. Head over to our health blog for more information about things you can do to help.
