Best Scorpion Pest Control Guide – What You Need To Know

August 29, 2019

Scorpions are nocturnal creatures, meaning they hide during the day and come out at night in search of food and water. They are very distinct creatures of the arachnids family, just like spiders and mites. Although they shy away from people, they can sting if agitated. They can be as small as 1/2-inch and can grow as large as 8 inches. Most people think that they are desert animals, but they are found everywhere, including your home. Scorpion stings can cause allergies and other symptoms if not treated immediately. Although their venom isn’t capable of taking human life, it can cause serious harm to children and pets. Hence, it is essential that you keep your home and perimeter clear of such pests.

This is the best scorpion pest control guide to help you perform your own scorpion treatment at home.

Treat for scorpions

The chances of scorpions running into you are very less unless you find them first. If scorpions are infesting your property, that means others pests like critters and mites are in plenty. Scorpions won’t inhabit places where there is a scarcity of food. Hence, to treat scorpions, you need first to treat other pests infesting your property. There are plenty of scorpion control kits available in the market that you can use.

· Find scorpions utilizing a UV light or tracker. Invest in a quality ultraviolet flashlight because scorpions are nocturnal creatures and only emerge at night. They are impossible to see with the naked eye.

· Treat your property with insecticide. It will not only help get rid of scorpions but other pests as well. You can use insecticide to create a barrier around your home’s foundation. Spray it vigorously in areas you think are most infested. Use proper protection when using insecticide.

· Use insecticide inside as well. For inside treatment, only use products that are labeled safe for use indoors. Apply the insecticide in areas including cracks and crevices, window frames and doors, along the walls, under sinks, behind toilets, under appliances, and the corners of rooms.

· Use glue boards or adhesive traps to monitor scorpion infestation. They are the best tools to catch scorpions in your home, along with their food sources. As you start treating your property, you should see less infestation. However, if the activity persists even after 21 days of treatment, you should either repeat the above-discussed steps or contact an exterminator.

Where to find and locate scorpions?

Don’t be surprised when we say they can be found in your closet, including your footwear as well. They hide during the day and hunt in the night. Popular hiding spots for scorpions inside the home include crawl spaces, kitchen cabinets, bathroom, attics, piles of laundry, or closets. When you are treating the infestation inside the house or outside, ensure that no one, especially your kids or pets, is nearby.

Most importantly, always use proper protection when using chemical insecticides.
