How to Stay Fit at Work

How to Stay Fit at Work | My Zeo

Just as you want to earn a steady income, it’s also important to make sure your health is secured at work. After all, your productivity will depend a lot on the habits that you assume at the office. There are good habits and there are bad habits, and it’s only fitting that you focus more on good habits rather than the bad. That said, keeping fit at work is still an essential part of the modern lifestyle experience.

But how do you exactly incorporate fitness at work? Let’s find out using the guide below:

1. Swap sweets with fruits and veggies

Lunchtime is probably the most sought-after period in any office you visit across North America. However, there have been issues with regards to the choice of food, with experts saying that modern-day workers will have to abide by a strict dietary discipline consisting of protein-rich foods with antioxidant properties.

Instead of munching on high-cholesterol hotdogs and burgers for a quick meal, opt for a salad instead coupled with a serving of yogurt. Not only will this combination be good for the digestive system, it also supplies you with the energy you need to survive the day.

2. Switch off once in a while

Sure, you need to finish processing all the pending paperwork for the day, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a much-needed break. That said, it’s important that you switch off from work whenever you feel burned out. After all, not taking a break can lead to disastrous consequences. Typing for more than an hour, for instance, is a pretty good reason to go see a rheumatologist to help you prevent developing a repetitive stress injury or other joint condition.

Still, prevention is much better than cure, so don’t wait for joint pains to set in and convince you to go see a doctor. For this, you can simply use a Pomodoro clock which alerts you whenever you have worked for 30 minutes non-stop and you need to take a 10-15 minute breather. That way, you won’t risk damaging the joints in your wrists.

3. Make everything ergonomic

Ergonomics is all about replacing common office fixtures and items with tools that offer less strain to the wrists and lower back. That said, make sure to replace your keyboard with something that has less restrictive keys and provides ample rest for your wrists. By investing in ergonomic equipment, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

4. Take time to meditate

Stress can manifest itself physically. We just can’t perform if we realize that we have so many things to worry about. In this case, you may want to go on an adventure to Vietnam or Thailand, but you just can’t seem to fit all that if a part of yourself is being pressured.

So, if you’re planning to overcome all these tasks, you just need to give yourself time to reflect and meditate on the things you do. Find a place at work where you can be alone. It could be the rooftop of the building. Wherever you choose, make sure to empty your thoughts and be at peace!
