However, there is a slight chance that some women may miss seeing the listed symptoms and still give birth to twins. Even though pregnancy symptoms vary, read on to get to know some of the most common symptoms that might show you may carry twins.

Symptoms Of IVF Twins in Pregnancy | My Zeo

Frequent urination

Visiting the washroom more often is an experience most expectant mothers have to deal with during pregnancy. However, for mothers expecting twins, may witness this aspect too soon into the first trimester. The HCG hormone, which is higher in such mothers, increases the blood flow to the pelvic area and kidneys. This makes the kidneys work more efficiently and thus the body gets rid of waste products such as urine more often. With the fast-growing uterus, the pressure on the bladder gets greater, giving it a lesser amount of room to pile up the urine.

Extreme Fatigue

Expectant mothers normally experience fatigue; however, to mothers expecting twins there is great likeness for them experiencing extreme fatigue; they may feel excessively tired due to increased production of hormones. Also, the mother’s body produces more blood to aid in the transportation of nutrients to the placenta.

Early Quickening

The most exciting moment for an expectant mother is to feel the baby move in the womb. The thrilling, heartfelt experience from within your womb binds you to your unborn baby. Making the relationship between the mother and the child even stronger. Normally, this feeling may be experienced by most mothers halfway into their pregnancies between 16 and 25 weeks gestation. However, mothers of twins this experience may knock earlier on your doors. It may be as early as into your first trimester. This may serve as a hint that you may carry over one human in your womb.

 Mood Swings

Pregnancy may affect your moods for various reasons; physical, hormonal; increase in production of estrogen and progesterone hormones, stresses, excitement, Metabolism or being overwhelmed with constant worries about the pregnancy. In most pregnancies, these symptoms are experienced from the 6th week; however, they may be witnesses earlier in women expectant with twins. Moods swings are a normal experience and an expectant mother should learn to get by with it.

Weight gain

Weighing an extra pound than the usual weight for a pregnant woman may be a symptom of an IVF twins pregnancy. The extra weight may be because of an increase in fluids, blood capacity, or tissue. Carrying two babies will have a great impact on the woman’s body.

A Shift in Breast Structure

You may notice a slight change in the normal appearance of your breast into the first trimester and throughout the pregnancy. Surging hormones may cause your breasts to start to bulging, become tender and more firm. Your nipple gets soft, sensitive, and the area around the areolas gets darker. All these are positive signs because your milk ducts are forming. For a mother carrying twins this growth may be more rapid in the early weeks

Early Positive Results

Getting pregnant through IVF may increase the chances, of getting positive results earlier. Carrying twins makes it even better. The HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and AFP (Alpha-Fetoprotein) hormones in a mother expecting twins are so high and thus early positive results may mean you may be carrying twins in your womb.

Nausea

Nausea is a common effect experience in most pregnant mothers. But to some this experience may be severe. This could be an induction of a twin pregnancy. You may be experiencing severe morning sickness because the body is producing high levels of HCG hormones .morning sickness is not harmful to neither the mother nor the baby. However, if it becomes more severe and the vomiting uncontrollably you may be having hyperemesis Gravidarum. Hyperemesis Gravidarum may be harmful if left untreated. Inform your doctor or midwife in case it gets worse. Consuming a smaller amount of food often will help unruffled morning sickness.

Conclusions

Finally, trust your gut. Your maternal instincts may be important don’t overlook them. If you have the slightest feeling that you may be carrying twins–a strong hunch or intuition that you may just let go of–mention it to your doctor. However, whether you get to experience the above symptoms or not it is important to get checked up and let the doctor perform an ultrasound to erase all uncertainty. And if the outcome may be wrong, you still get a chance to have a fulfilling singleton pregnancy.
