DOZER

Data Observations of the Zeo Extraction Registry (DOZER) is an institutional review board monitored registry of de-identified data collected from Zeo users who upload data to the Zeo website. The intent of the registry is to help Zeo advance it's scientific mission by reporting on data from the largest in-home sleep data set in the world.

This very large data set (hundreds of thousands of nights of sleep data) can provide us with valuable insights into how people really sleep. To date, we have reported on topics such as the effects of age on sleep, the differences in sleep between males and females, the effects of daylight saving time on sleep quality, and weekday versus weekend sleep habits. There are many other questions that can be addressed and explored through these data.

DOZER Reports:

Fabregas SE, Shambroom J. Objective in-home weekday vs. weekend sleep in a sample of the US population. Sleep. 2010;33 (Suppl.):A75. Abstract 0214. [Download Presentation] [Download Abstract] Zeo users get much more sleep on free weekend days than on work nights.

Shambroom J, Fabregas SE. Age related changes in objectively measured sleep observed in a large population in the home. Sleep. 2010;33 (Suppl.):A348. Abstract 1042. [Download Poster] [Download Abstract] Sleep across age for Zeo users is very much as would be expected compared to reports in the literature about sleep quality by age.

Shambroom J, Fabregas SE. Sleep changes through the fall daylight saving time transition observed in objectively measured sleep in the home. Sleep. 2010;33 (Suppl.):A71. Abstract 0204.  [Download Poster][Download Abstract] Falling back has much less of an effect on our sleep quality than springing ahead.

Fabregas SE. Objective sleep by age and sex in a large at-home sample. Sleep. 2011;34 (Suppl.):A28. Abstract 0073. [Download Poster] [Download Abstract] Sleep not only changes across age, but is different for males and females across age.

Data Privacy:

DOZER meets strict requirements for de-identification and is under the supervision of the Western Institutional Review Board of Olympia, WA. However, some Zeo users may prefer that their data never enter the registry in the first place. If you have any questions about the privacy of your data, or would like to request that your data are removed from the Zeo database prior to de-identification and inclusion in DOZER, please contact us at: data.privacy@myzeo.com.

Research with DOZER:

As a de-identified registry, DOZER has the potential to be a useful research tool for other people interested in studying sleep in a large population. Generally, separate IRB approval is required (even if for exemption purposes) for such use of the registry. If you have any questions about research at Zeo, please contact us at research@myzeo.com.

The Principal Investigator for DOZER is Stephan E Fabregas, Research Scientist and Educational Content Leader at Zeo, Inc.
